CAS is...

CAS experiences should:

  • Be real, purposeful activities

  • Be based on a personal interest, skill, talent or opportunity for growth

  • Have a personal challenge - tasks must be challenging and be achievable in scope

  • Include thoughtful consideration and use of the CAS stages (investigation, preparation, action, reflection, and demonstration)

  • Have evidence and reflection on learning and personal outcomes

  • Fit into one or more CAS strands

  • Fulfill one or more of the learner outcomes

CAS is NOT

  • Any class, activity or project which is already part of the Diploma Programme

  • An activity which you will be paid (unless this benefit is passed on in full to a worthy cause)

  • Doing simple, tedious and repetitive work (ex: filing, shredding paper, grading papers, etc.)

  • A passive experience, such as a visit to a museum, the theatre, art exhibition, concert or sports event, unless it clearly inspires work in a related activity in which you are already engaged

  • All forms of duty within your family

  • Religious devotion

  • Activities which cause division amongst different groups in the community
